Sketch Saturday

February 8, 2025, 1 to 3 pm

Sketch Saturday provides an opportunity for visitors to sketch from installations and works of art created by our featured artists during the month. In February, Hillyer will feature Revenants by Jude Griebel, Duality by Teddy Osei, and Cotton Flower by Paula Mans. Visitors are invited to draw independently in the galleries of their choice or receive feedback from Hillyer staff instructors. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks and pencils. As a member, supplies are available for free!

Artist Talk with Jude Griebel

Saturday, February 15, 1 p.m.

Join us for this unique opportunity to speak with Jude Griebel, who will talk about his exhibition titled Revenants. The exhibition presents a series of sculptures and drawings that explore our relationship to the animals we consume and how they are perceived within the popular psyche.

A Conversation with Paula Mans and Dr. Lauren Davidson

Free for Members; $10 for non-members

Join us for our monthly “Third Thursday” program as we feature our solo artist Paula Mans in conversation with Dr. Lauren Davidson, an independent curator and founder of Museum Nectar Art Consultancy. Mans will talk about her exhibition Cotton Flower which uses portraiture to center Black women in historical discourse surrounding enslaved resistance.

Free to the public (suggested donation $10)

On Saturday, February 22, join us for our ongoing series of artist talksas we featured Ghanian solo artist Teddy Osei, who will talk about his exhibition Duality. Osei’s exhibition provides a thoughtful examination of the intersection between traditional Ghanaian art forms and Western contemporary practices.
