September One

Bobby Coleman’s work, “September One”, is currently on view in our latest exhibition! Come check it out in person.
Strata

Jackie Brown deals with issues of growth, bioengineering, and the interaction between humans and other organisms: “An important undercurrent in the work is an interest in the human manipulation of living systems”. Brown’s “Strata” is an interesting instantiation of the relation which artists have with their own artwork, mimicking natural ideas of symbiosis and parasitism.
Brachyura Zoea 1

Kathleen Benton’s “Brachyura Zoea 1” is part of a larger series of Zooplankton images captured by microscopic cameras. Her work explores the relationship between figure and ground, “The translucent to transparent nature of zooplankton and their habitat as a visual investigation is fascinating, as transparency confuses the figure and the ground”. Come check out her work at Hillyer throughout the entire month of October!

“Using a lexicon of familiar forms that bind the absurd and poetic, he creates spaces that can be both playful and horrific, in which, like a dream, the delineation of forms can come into question. The contents of these forms exceed their own limits thereby implying the possible collapse of their structures and impending doom.”- Victor Perez
Come see Victor’s painting and experience this play on absurd and poetic! His work will be up through October 31st.
