Featuring photography and video installations, this exhibition examines the concept of “Public Space” from the viewpoint of the artist. The collective experience of Iranian citizens that has been subject to political and social transformations. The works in this exhibition are not only documented narratives of urban life, but also an artistic reflection of life experiences in Iran.

Special performance and workshop event with Hip-Hop artist Mana Eini. Rapping in both English and Farsi, Mana combines her Persian sounds with soulful singing and an enticing flow.  Mana is the founder of Lipstick Revolt, an international women’s organization that empowers other female MCs, artists, and poets to express themselves as well as raise awareness about political and social issues. Presented in collaboration with Words Beats & Life, Lipstick Revolt, and the Aftab Committee.

Join us for a panel discussion on Iranian and Iranian-American culture, identity, and the broader conditions impacting creative work and partnerships. Panelists include Bahar Jalehmahmoudi, an Iranian-American artist who works as an installation artist and sculptor, and Shahrooz Shekaraubi, Founder and President of the Aftab Committee. The conversation will be moderated by Nazila Fathi, reporter and author of The Lonely War: One Woman’s Account of the Struggle for Modern Iran.
